Police Records Show Murder Suspect Had Criminal Past

On Thursday in Charlottesville, police followed up on tips and interviewed the community to learn more details that led to UVA student, Yeardley Love's murder.

We've learned George Huguely has run into trouble with the law in the past. Past police records and court documents that show the suspect had two run-ins with authorities in Florida. His family has a home there. Huguely was charged with possession of alcohol by a minor in 2007 in Palm Beach County.

In 2008, in the same county, a Palm Beach County Sheriff's report states Huguely got into a "very heated" argument with his father and cousin on a boat while fishing. Deputies say Huguely wanted to go back to the beach, but his father would only take him home, so he dove into the Atlantic Ocean to swim the quarter-mile to shore. A passing vessel picked him up.

The medical examiners office said Thursday that they are doing further studies before a preliminary cause of death in Love's case is released.

Also new," relatives of UVA lacrosse player Yeardley Love have established two memorial funds in her name. Anyone interested in making contributions can donate to the Yeardley Love Memorial Fund at her Maryland high school or to the Yeardley Love Women's Lacrosse Scholarship Fund.

Her funeral is scheduled for Saturday morning in Baltimore.
