Amherst Co., VA - The jury is set in Amherst County as Wesley Earnest prepares to stand trial again for his wife Jocelyn's death. Eight women and four men will serve on the jury.
This time around the evidence is being handled in a different way. We saw what happened last time in Bedford County when jurors mistakenly got to look at Jocelyn Earnest's journals, after the judge ruled them inadmissible. During this retrial one deputy is responsible for handling every bit of evidence. It's her only job during this trial, to make sure history doesn't repeat itself.
Evidence against Wesley Earnest will begin piling up late Tuesday morning when witnesses begin taking the stand. That will be after the prosecution and the defense make their opening statements. Unlike the last trial, the judge will not allow cameras inside the courtroom. He says this courthouse does not have the proper layout to accommodate news cameras.
They've been told this trial could go past Thanksgiving.
Everyone will have this Thursday off to celebrate Veterans Day.
