Heating Issues Closes Miller Center for Two Days

Reporter: Lauren Compton l Videographer: Brian Whitesell

Lynchburg, VA- Some Lynchburg City employees spent the day working in cold offices Monday afternoon. The heating system at the Miller Park Center on Grove Street went out on Monday.

About 10 employees worked through it using small space heaters to stay warm. Many employees wrapped up with gloves, and extra scarves.

Officials say some mechanical issues in the building knocked out the heat, and they expect to the center will reopen on Wednesday, December 8th.

Officials say the worse part is that dozens of children who come to center after school won't be able do so until the heat is running again.

"They get help with their homework, use the computers and a lot of recreational activities so they will miss out on that opportunity. Kay Frazier, Director Lynchburg Parks & Recreation Department .

You can still go to the Miller Center's customer service office to register for classes.
