Lynchburg, VA- The Liberty University School of Aeronautics is growing. School officials say more students are enrolling, they have more programs, and now they need more space.
The school has proposed building a new facility next to the Falwell Aviation Jet Center at the Lynchburg Regional Airport. The proposed building will be 40,000 to 50,000 square feet, and house some new academic classes.
Dean Liberty School of Aeronautics, David Young says the planned expansion will help the community, and the Lynchburg Regional Airport.
"It's a great time for the region. In this economic downturn we've experienced I think we're going to be part of the recovery not only for the Lynchburg Regional Airport, but for the local community as well," said Young.
Once the new facility is approved, officials hope to have it up in a year. Liberty's School of Aeronautics is one of the largest flights schools in the state.
