The results are in for Tuesday's special election.
Republican Bill Stanley won Robert Hurt's Senate seat today with 61.42% of the vote.
Democrat Hank Davis, Jr. only got 38.39% of the vote.
Stanley will now head to Richmond.
He says during his time in the Senate, he would oppose uranium mining, but support ABC privatization with modifications.
Many were worried the weather would deter many from voting Tuesday and they expect total turnout to be around seven percent.
And in the 8th District House of Delegates race, Republican Greg Habeeb took down Democrat Ginger Mumpower with 63.52% of the vote.
Mumpower ended the race with 36.23% of the vote.
Habeeb will take over for Morgan Griffith who knocked out long serving democrat Rick Boucher from the 9th Congressional District.
Habeeb says his number one priority is job creation.
