Update: Appomattox Co. Murder-Suicide Victims Identified

(8:45 a.m. Monday) Appomattox Co., VA - Appomattox County investigators have identified the man and woman killed in an apparent murder-suicide this weekend.

They say 24-year-old Kevin Sparrow killed his girlfriend 35-year-old Vanta Haskins before turning the gun on himself.

Deputies were on the scene at the couple's home on Narrow Passage Road about 1:00 a.m. Sunday morning, where they found Haskins dead with multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators learned that Sparrow had family in Amherst County. About 7:00 a.m., they found his body in a county cemetery, next to his brother's grave.

Investigators say the two had been dating for six years and had been engaged for about three years.


Appomattox Co.,VA – Authorities in Appomattox County say a female and male are dead following an apparent domestic situation Sunday morning.

Around 1:00 a.m. deputies responded to the 1100 block of Narrow Passage Road for a possible domestic dispute, and found a female shot dead from multiple gun shots.

Investigators say the woman was living in the residence with a man who was found dead from self inflicted gun shots wounds in Amherst County shortly after her body was found.

Investigators are not releasing the identities of the female or male in the case. The woman's body has been sent to the medical examiner's office in Roanoke.

Appomattox County officials say they are investigating this an a murder.
