Madison Heights, VA - A Madison Heights family lost everything when their house burned down this week. But, one thing the Johns' family hasn't lost is their trust in total strangers.
We sat down with the family Friday. They can't believe the community's response.
We have gotten several calls at ABC 13 this week from people asking what they could do to help the family.
The family says they were given an entire dining room set, love seat, sofa, table and chairs, and a refrigerator. One family member, you may remember, had severe special needs and lost his motorized chair in the blaze. They family says he was given a new one.
They even got a free storage room to use for a while to keep what they saved and the gifts they've been given.
"I couldn't ask for no more. I never thought there was that many people who would just pile in and help someone in need," said June Johns, fire victim.
What they say they really need now is a more permanent place to stay. They say they hope someday to rebuild on the land where they lost everything.
