The attorney for Jens Soering has sent a letter to Governor Bob McDonnell, refuting a number of the statements laid out in a letter from one of the investigators in the 1985 murder.
Gail Ball's letter spells out what she says are 19 errors of fact.
Major Ricky Gardner wrote his letter to convince McDonnell that the case against Soering was rock solid and he shouldn't be sent to Germany just last week.
But Ball claims among other things that while Soering may have confessed, so did Elizabeth Haysom at one point and that more evidence points to her.
She also refutes piece after piece of what Gardner says is evidence of Soering's guilt.
