On the same front, how bad of a draw did UVa get in the NCAA Tournament? They win four games in four days against tough ACC competition to win the conference tourney title and now they have to travel all the way across the country to California. That's not all. In game one they'll face San Diego State and likely have to face 100-plus m.p.h fastball pitcher Stephen Strasburg. He's expected to be the number one overall draft pick June 9th. He averages 12 strikeouts a start. He's so good, San Diego State's athletic website devoted a special page for him - http://goaztecs.cstv.com/sports/m-basebl/strasburg09.html
A win there and they would likely face UC-Irvine. The Anteaters might have a funny nickname but they're the overall number 6 seed in the tourney. Oh, and the other team in the 4-team regional, Fresno State - the NCAA defending champs.

High school ranks - we've passed the districts and we're onto the regionals. I still haven't seen an area team that I think has a real legitimate shot to win a state title. I hope I'm wrong. Teams that have a shot to make some sort of a run.Chatham baseball, Altavista softball, Tunstall baseball.

My NBA finals pick is starting to look a little shaky. I had the Lakers and Cavs.

New blog addition. I'll call it the quote of the week. I give you a quote. You tell me what movie it's from. Just post it on the comment section.
"Soccer style kicker graduated from Collier High June 1976, Stetson University honors graduate class of 1980, holds 2 NCAA Division One records, one for most points in a season, one for distance, former nickname "The Mule," the first and only pro-athlete ever to come out of Collier County and one hell of a model American."
That's all for now. I hope you had an enjoyable Memorial Day.
