So why has it been so rainy recently???
Well over Memorial Day weekend, a strong area of low pressure, with lots of tropical moisture moved in off the Gulf Of Mexico. This storm moved into the central part of the nation and parked itself there. The counter-clockwise flow has pulled plenty of moisture in off the Gulf and Atlantic. Therefore, you got the humidity and with late spring sunshine, you've got the heat, which leads to showers and thunderstorms. The jet stream has been running along the US/Canadian border. This fast moving river of air above usually helps push storms across the country, but when that is lacking, storm movement is slow. Also, you may have noticed the thunderstorms haven't been severe. That's because of a lack of wind energy, since the jet stream is located so far north.

Finally this weekend, we'll see the jet stream change it's configuration. This will push a cool front through our region, leading to more sunshine and lower humidity!
