One area couple experienced just about all of those feelings very early Tuesday morning when they welcomed Lynchburg's New Year's Baby.

Kimberly Martin, Nurse - "They have a lot of visitors in there right now, so lots of excitement, a lot of people are here to see them."

ABC 13 myTAKE - What's Your Opinion?Kimberly Rice, Mother - "I'm never lonely, that's for sure.  I've always got company."

Kimberly Rice and her husband, James, know a thing or two about parenting.  It's the people around them who seem to think baby number three, little Kooper Ryan, is different than his brothers.

James Rice, Father - "I feel the same as I did the first two times, I reckon."

Of course, the first two times, they didn't produce a New Year's Baby.

Martin - "All the envelopes are gift certificates to different places."

In reality, it's little more than the luck of timing.  This is Kooper Ryan Rice -- New Year's Baby.  If he'd come a week from now, like he was supposed to, he would be Kooper Rice -- third son of James and Kimberly.  And, that would have been just fine with them.

Kimberly - "I didn't really care when it was born.  I just wanted it over with.  Period.  It didn't matter to me if it was the New Year Baby."

James - "I was actually hoping he was going to hold out to the 22nd.  That's my birthday."

As it turns out, Kooper gets to celebrate his dad's birthday later this month.  By Thursday, they'll all be back at home in Evington.  In the mean time…

Kimberly - "It's just overwhelming."

James - "We're going to have to get a bigger wagon."

Kooper Ryan Rice weighed in at six pounds, ten ounces.  His mom, Kimberly, was in labor for four hours.

How do you like this piece from the report? Kimberly - "I didn't really care when it was born. I just wanted it over with. Period. It didn't matter to me if it was the New Year Baby." Since did a baby become an "It"?
