Campbell Co., VA - Firefighters are trying to figure out what started a fire that destroyed an area home. They rushed to Jefferson Drive in Campbell County just outside Lynchburg Saturday afternoon. In iWitness video a neighbor took you can see the home is a total loss.

But the elderly woman who lives there got out safely with her dog. The fire was so powerful firefighters decided to fight it from the outside as a safety precaution. Neighbor Tammy Glass was even afraid it would spread to her home.

Tammy Glass, Neighbor - "I was really scared. It was... it intensely took off. It really rapidly spread."

Firefighters are still not 100-percent sure what caused the fire but say a lot of it was concentrated in the kitchen area. An investigation is underway.
