Across the ABC 13 Viewing Area - High school hoops, Brookville went out of the Seminole District Monday night to battle the Dogwood's Altavista Colonels. Low-scoring first half, Jared King pops the three for Brookville to make it 15-9 midway of period two.

Altavista scored just three points in the quarter all in the final 15 seconds, Jerrell Jordan two of his 16 here, but the Colonels trailed by only five at the break 17-12. Third quarter, Logan Thomas finds Corby Weiss for the dunk and the foul! Brookville ran up a double-digit lead the second half, Thomas slams down two of his 15.

But Altavista teams don't quit, the Colonels roar back the final quarter to force overtime, Mike Poindexter pours in a game-high 19.  The Colonels stun the Bees 56-50.

The Heritage Pioneers hosted Amherst County. In the first quarter, Heritage's Omar Pannell drives this one to the basket, cutting into the Lancers' early lead, the Pioneers down 14-11. Next, it's number five, Tevan Crews' turn. He sinks the three, tying the game at 14 to end the first quarter.

In the second, Amherst is quick to take back its lead when Mario Vaughan makes this three and the Lancers are up three. Later, Anthony Rose proves he's not just a good quarterback, he can shoot the basketball, too, knocking down the jumper off the glass. The Lancers are up four and go on to win 65-56.

Two other boys scores phoned in, Liberty won at home over JF 60-50. Chris Harmon led the Minutemen with 21 and Timberlake Christian defeats Faith Christian 53-36.
