Washincton DC - Freshman Congressman Tom Perriello has received his committee assignment as Virginia's new representative to the 5th District.  Perriello will serve on the House Veterans Affairs Committee.

The committee oversees veterans’ benefits, pensions, VA hospitals and treatment centers, among other things. 13 percent of 5th district residents are military veterans.

Perriello, of course, replaces Virgil Goode (web) , who served on the House Appropriations Committee.
