Wednesday is high school "Team of the Week" day on ABC-13 Sports. We feature the Liberty High School boys’ basketball team. The Minutemen, runners-up in the Seminole District, are still alive in post-season regional action.
They beat Stuarts Draft at home and Harrisonburg on the road the last two nights. Liberty rallied from nine down the second half last night to improve to 17-and-10 overall and advance to Thursday night's region semifinal against Robert E. Lee at JMU.
Liberty lost badly at Lee the first game of the year before beating the Fighting Leemen by one January 4th in Bedford.
Martrey Stevens, Minutemen Senior Guard - "We're probably one of the most underrated teams in the region A lot of people don't expect us to be here, but we're here. It's gonna be a pleasure to watch us play and we're gonna take care of business."
Carlton Payne, Minutemen Junior Center - "Got a big guy, he's pretty good I guess. A little point guard pretty quick, they've got a good transition game, they can run. So if we get back on defense, we should be ok."
