A couple of old race cars will have a new life at the Virginia International Raceway. Petty Enterprises donated two of their retired number 43 cars to VIPER Services, located at VIR. This research center uses an eight-post testing rig to simulate a track, which helps race teams fine-tune their car's suspension system. Now they'll use the Petty cars as research vehicles and hopefully shorten the amount of time it takes with other cars.
The VIPER 8-post system is the only one of its kind in North America for commercial car testing.
