Is Abell Out as Amherst Coach?

It appears Scott Abell is out as head football coach at Amherst County High School, after leading the Lancers to two consecutive state championships.
High-level sources at the school confirm Abell is expected to hand in his resignation during Thursday's school board meeting. No one would go on record with us until the coach makes his resignation official. They say there's still time for him to change his mind.
Abell is apparently close to signing a deal that would make him offensive coordinator at Washington and Lee University. Officials with that school tell us they spoke with Abell as recently as Wednesday morning, but nothing is final.
In six years with the Lancers, Abell amassed a 60-12 record.
