A Bedford County man is behind bars accused of setting at least two forest fires. The Virginia Forestry Department made the arrest. This guy has quite a rap sheet.
Two counts of woods arson are just the latest notches on the belt of 21-year-old Michael Pollard. Officials say he lit one of those blazes in February, in the Lynch Station area of Bedford County. Less than 24 hours later a bloodhound led forestry officials directly to Pollard's home.
They say Pollard admitted to setting that fire and another one in August. Officials tell us they're investigating six other fires in that area over the past year. And while they can't link Pollard, they're not ruling him out as a suspect either.
Todd Kready, Dept. Of Forestry - "We have had wildfires on a daily basis. But we haven't had any suspicious fires since we made the arrest."
Woods arson is a felony. Pollard could face up to 5 years in prison or $2,500 in fines. Right now he's being held in the Bedford County Jail.
