It's high school "Team of the Week" time on ABC-13 Sports. We spotlight the E.C. Glass baseball team. The Hilltoppers struggled to open the season starting 0-and-3, but have won their last two.
In the process, they captured the Heritage Invitational Championship last night with a 12-9 win over Appomattox. The district portion of the schedule hasn't begun yet for Glass, but the Toppers know who's gonna be the competition at the top.
Kevin Brown, E.C. Glass Head Coach - "The Western Valley's always difficult. There's always G.W. and Halifax. We're certainly the small school in that district and it's hard to compete and we've done a good job the last few years just to compete. Obviously it's our goal to win the championship but that is a monumental task for us to accomplish and hopefully we can make strides in that direction this year."
Joey Koes, Glass Sr. Catcher - "We've got eight returning seniors so it's looking out pretty good right now. I know, I think if we bring the bats everything else will follow through and right now it's looking really good."
