Martinsville is gearing up for one of its two busiest weekends as NASCAR (web|news) comes to town. Hundreds of RVs are parked outside Martinsville Speedway enjoying an early start to the weekend.
Business owners say the big crowds will start rolling in Thursday. Restaurants and stores nearby are ready - stocking up on your typical tailgating items. At the Red Birch Country Market, sales triple on Sundays, which is a welcome boost.
Dean Price, Business Owner - "Especially the way the local economy in Martinsville has been the last several years, we’ve lost a lot of industry here and we just thank the Lord that we have this race twice a year to help us through those tough times."
Qualifying for Sunday's Sprint Cup race will be held Friday afternoon. A truck race is scheduled for Saturday.
