Ryan Newman Visits Area

Daytona 500 champion Ryan Newman made a pit stop in Lynchburg Thursday night. Newman greeting fans at the grand opening of a new Alltel Wireless store on Wards Road.
The Rocket drives the number 12 Alltel Dodge Charger. He's raced well at Martinsville of late, finishing second in the Fall to Jimmie Johnson, Newman with five top-5's at the half-mile track. He could laugh about getting pretty soaked Wednesday at home.
Ryan Newman, Eighth in Sprint Cup Points - "I was fishing with a friend of mine, an older friend of mine and one of my dogs. And we all lined up on one side of the boat at one point and it wasn't good, we ended up getting wet. I got a new Alltel phone out of the deal so it worked out pretty good for me."
And things worked out really good for Lynchburg's Chris Turner. He won an Alltel VIP trip to the All-Star race in Charlotte in May and his name will be displayed on Newman's quarterpanel the entire weekend.
