State Police say they have their man, but there may still be others involved in yesterday's I-64 shootings.
19-year-old Slade Woodson is under arrest as police continue their investigation. They held a press conference in Albemarle County Friday morning.
The search for Woodson started early Friday morning. Just before 5:00 a.m. police showed up with a warrant to search a home in Crozet. That’s the same general area where six cars were shot Thursday. When they got there, police say one of the five men there pulled a gun. Officers shot him – he was airlifted to UVA Medical Center.
The man they were after, 19-year-old Slade Woodson was arrested without a struggle. We're told officers found his car -- an AMC Gremlin -- matching the description of a car near one of the I-64 shootings, abandoned along the roadside near the Albemarle County line.
He's already booked on a felony related to a shooting Thursday outside a bank in Waynesboro. Investigators are waiting for forensic evidence to link him to the I-64 shootings.
Thursday we were told more than one shooter had to be involved. Police are still looking for information about other suspects
Col. Steve Flaherty, State Police - "I think we are on the right path, I think we'll have some more information to bring you later, and everyone can, I think, rest compared to the state we were in overnight." We’ll have an update of this story on ABC 13 News at 6:00 and 7:00.
