Altavista, VA -
Lawmakers are taking notice of an Altavista boy's act of heroism. We first told you about 11-year-old Forrest Taylor in February, after he and his family spotted a brush fire, reported it to police, then helped battle the flames until firefighters got there.
On Wednesday, Delegate Kathy Byron stopped by Altavista Elementary School to give him special recognition. Governor Kaine has also commended Forrest for his bravery.
Forrest Taylor - "Do something right for the community and it saves a lot of community and stuff and it don't get worse."
The experience has Forrest thinking about firefighting as a possible future career.
