Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest reopens Tuesday for the 2008 season. This year, visitors will see the finishing touches of reconstruction plans to the estate.
Those plans were laid out by Jefferson in 1812. After he died, the wing fell into disrepair. Throughout 2008, craftsmen will recreate the wing to Jefferson's original plans. Workers will use only 19th-century materials, tools and building methods.
Poplar Forest will be open Wednesday through Monday until November 30th.
