He died for our freedom during the Korean War. Now, a Danville soldier will finally be laid to rest by his family. Private First-Class Elwood Reynolds was one of two US servicemen whose remains have been identified by the Department of Defense (web) .
Reynolds died in North Korea in late November of 1950, as a result of an intense enemy fire. US and Korean officials excavated the site from 2002 to 2005 and later were able to identify 10 people. Reynolds nephew tells us they're so excited to have him home.
The funeral will be held on April 18th.
