He made it all the way to the final three. Roanoke's Cameron Johnson came so close to winning Oprah's Big Give. He ended up finishing second and took home $100,000. Stephen Paletta of Bedford, New York, walked away with the top prize of one million dollars.
Meanwhile, we want to extend a big thank you to everyone who took part in our local Big Give effort. You really rallied around this cause. The Boy Scouts helped us. Centra Health (web) helped us. The children at Boonsboro Elementary School helped us. And so did everyone who stopped by our mobile medical clinic to give what they could.
Remember, Oprah and ABC started us out with $10,000. The final total - more than $30,000. We're using that money to send more than a million dollars worth of badly-needed medical supplies overseas -- supplies that would otherwise be thrown away.
