She's led Sweet Briar (web) College for more than a decade. Now, President Elisabeth Muhlenfeld says she's ready for something new. She plans to retire by June of next year and wants to spend more time with her six grandkids.
Muhlenfeld says it's a good time to leave, because things are going well at the school. And she's proud of helping craft the future of women's education.
Elisabeth Muhlenfeld, SBC President - "It's been a privilege, this is a beautiful part of the country, an extraordinary institution and a wonderful time to be in higher education. You seem from day to day as if you are pushing a lot of paper but in fact students are being education and moving on into the world."
Muhlenfeld may give writing, consulting and even teaching a try after leaving Sweet Briar. She says the search for her replacement will probably be underway as soon as school starts back up in August.
