The Citgo shooting suspects made their first appearance in court Monday. All six were denied bond. ABC-13 has learned that prosecutors intend to try the five juveniles as adults, all five are high school students.
Three went to Heritage and two are from E.C. Glass. But three of those teens most recently attended Amelia Pride Center, an alternative school. As for the lone adult in the Citgo six, 20-year-old Kionne Pulley appeared on video conference Monday morning. A judge appointed him a public defender.
Meanwhile, the tribute to clerk Abderrahin Elfilali continues to grow here at the Citgo.
The store is still closed, while Elfilali remains in critical condition after being shot in the forehead. His family tells us his condition has stabilized. Customers are organizing a candlelight vigil for Thursday night.
Jamie Burton, Citgo Customer - "Well we hope for a good amount, a lot of people we've told so far say they are coming, they're bringing their friends and family so far we've heard about 100 or so."
The charges these suspects are facing carry a sentence of up to life in prison.
