Campbell Co., VA - Investigators have charged a Rustburg man with two more felonies related to Monday's alleged crime-spree. Campbell County investigators charged 38-year-old Darrell Wayne Robertson, Jr. with arson and cruelty to animals on Thursday morning.
He's also facing multiple assaults including breaking and entering to commit an assault, violating a protective order and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. In total, that's four felonies and four misdemeanors.
Police say Robertson assaulted his sister Monday evening in her trailer on Bear Creek Road. She drove to the sheriff's office to report it by 7:20 p.m. and about the same time, crews were responding to a fire at her trailer. Two cats died in that fire.
About an hour later, his ex-girlfriend called deputies, saying Robertson is at her house near Evington. Deputies say he broke into her home and assaulted her. They arrested him there just before 9:00 p.m. and say he was holding a shotgun at the time.
Robertson's family is shocked. Amy Bass Robertson's sister, said, "We were just waiting for him to get back in a half-way house. You know, and I guess he just got frustrated from being turned down so much, and something set him off."
Deputies say he violated a protective order when he went to his ex-girlfriend's house and that he'd assaulted her twice before. Robertson is being held without bond.
