Bedford Co., VA - It's the third accident on Route 460 in the Thaxton area of Bedford County in recent weeks. State Police say around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, a man lost control of his tractor-trailer, ran off the side of 460 West, hit a utility pole, over-corrected and then wound up in the median.
The accident slowed traffic for several hours. One eastbound and one westbound lane of Route 460 remained closed until about 4:00 p.m.
The accident also left about 1,400 AEP customers without power for awhile. Another nearby utility pole was hit just last Friday. But State Police are not blaming any problems with the road. Instead they say point their finger at the drivers.
