We begin with high school soccer at E.C. Glass, the Hilltopper girls hosting Halifax County. Glass would take control of this game the first half, Lindsey Hitchcock's goal makes it 4-0 Hilltoppers, Glass led 5-0 at the half.
Second half, Dessi Dupuy's shot is knocked down, but Jeanine Johnston is there for the finisher to make it 6-0. Later, check out the pass to Dupuy who scores her second goal of the game.06D006F0073004
E.C. Glass beats Halifax 8-0, and with the victory clinches its fourth straight Western Valley regular season title.
Seminole District softball tonight at Jefferson Forest, the Cavaliers taking on the Rustburg Red Devils. After a big 8-run first inning, JF strikes for three more in the third, Chelsea Lavender scores on the ball that gets away from the catcher, 11-0 Cavs.
Rustburg got on the board in the fourth, Caity Steffy doubles over the right fielder's head helping to set up a run. But JF answered with four more in the fourth, Cara Hannell big night at the plate.
The Cavaliers roll over the Red Devils tonight 18-3. For the second year in a row Brookville High School hosted the Lynchburg Elite Track and Field Invitational. One person who helped put this event together
Brookville athletic director John Vasvary. Friday the school named the track after him. In the boys 110 meter hurdles, Ethan Nixon of Brookville was the top seed and he showed why winning the event in a season best 14-point-46 seconds.
In the girls 100 meter dash, Chatham junior Marissa Thompson was the top seed and she also won in a time of 12-point-9 seconds. Boys high jump...Amherst County's Jeff Ware clears 6 feet 2 inches with relative ease. Two others did the same but at 6 feet 4 inches, V.E.S.'s Nick Cvetinovic needed to clear that height or the win would go to Ware. Nick can't do it so the Lancer senior takes the title.
Boys 4 by 100 meter relay...the Heritage team of Keith Smith, Alante Calland, Montez Hamlet and Shaun Sutton beat out Brookville's squad for the win and in the boys pole vault, Staunton River's James Bell set a P.R. with a vault of 14 feet 6 inches but E.C. Glass's Daniel Inge took home the win.
Area scores phoned in, baseball, E.C. Glass lost on the road at Halifax County 3-2, Amherst a 6-3 winner at Liberty, Ashton Paige socked a homer and two doubles for the Lancers.
Softball, Staunton River knocks off Brookville 4-1.
Boys soccer, E.C. Glass blanks Halifax 8-0, Altavista a 6-1 winner over Galileo, Steven Perkins netted four goals. Also, Jefferson Forest shut out Rustburg 9-0 and Amherst doubled up on Liberty, Ellis Turner three goals for the Lancers.
Girls soccer, Liberty wins at Heritage 2-0.
And girls lacrosse, E.C. Glass wins big 13-3, Tara Dodson scored four goals for the Hilltoppers.
