On the high school softball field Monday night, Brookville and Jefferson Forest picked up a suspended game from last week. The Bees were looking to stay atop the standings in the Seminole District.

Top 6, Bees up 4-3. Sarah Truxell grounds hard back to the pitcher. Beth Tyree comes in from third. Truxell's safe at first and it's 5-3 Brookville. They added another to take a 3-run lead into the 7th. In that inning, JF batters tried to get it past Megan Yeaples at third but they couldn't do it.

She made all three outs to close the door on the Cavs. Brookville moves to 7-and-3 in the district, winners 6-3.

Almost four weeks ago, Jefferson Forest knocked off E.C. Glass in girls’ soccer 3-1 at JF. Monday night, Glass had the home field advantage. Leading 2-0, opening moments of the second half, Jeanine Johnston makes it 3-0 Glass, Johnston's third goal of the night for an early hat trick.

About three minutes later, the Hilltoppers strike again, Dessi Dupuy with a great feed to Ashlea Caylor who boots it home to make it 4-0 E.C. Glass. Both keepers had some nice saves, Emily Kerns for Glass, Whitney Bonheim for the Cavaliers stopping Johnston's point-blank shot the second half.

Later, though, Glass on the break, it's Dupuy scoring to increase the lead to 5-0. Hilltoppers take the rematch big, Glass blanks JF 5-nothing.

Over on the boys’ side, JF taking on Amherst County. 2nd half, JF up 1-zip. Michael Bodine gets a shot on goal. Andrew Bray makes the stop but can't control it and Timmy Bullock takes advantage. He races to the ball and beats the goalie to it.  JF now up 2-nothing.

A minute and a half later, look at the left foot of David Jackson. That's a bullet - top shelf. Cavs now up 3-nothing. Then how about one for good measure. Blake Hubbard lofts it up for Bullock and Bullock heads it to the far left side.  JF shuts out Amherst for the second time, 4-nothing the final.

Area scores phoned in, girls’ soccer, Heritage knocks off Brookville 6-1 while Liberty rolls over Rustburg 10-1, Molly Mansel led the Minettes with three goals.

Baseball, Brookville edges JF 2-1 in the continuation of a game postponed due to lightning a few weeks ago and Nelson wins big at Gretna 12-1.
