New details in the arrest of an accused Amherst County killer. According to court documents, 21-year-old Timothy Wright, Jr. was not alone when he allegedly opened fire on 19-year-old Justin Baumgardner. A witness says his gun was used in the killing.
The witness told investigators he was in Wright's truck, when Wright grabbed his handgun, leaned out the window and fired at least five shots into Baumgardner's truck. That witness came forward the next day. The gun still has not been recovered.
As far as a motive, investigators tell us they are not finished with their questioning. We can tell you that Tim Wright has not admitted to the crime, so the testimony of the witness will be important. Investigators are trying to tie Wright to the scene with physical evidence. Shell casings and a black hat found at the scene are being tested against Wright's DNA and fingerprints.
Tim Wright will make his first appearance in court Thursday for an advisement hearing.
Services for Baumgardner have been announced. The public visitation is set for this Saturday, from 2:00 to 6:00pm. The funeral will be held Monday at 10:00am. Both events will be held at Whitten Funeral Home in Madison Heights.
