It seemed like they'd been abandoned, but according to the Danville Humane Society the five pit bulls they found this morning were probably being used for dog fighting. Officials found them in the woods off Third Avenue West.

The three adult dogs are all female and show evidence of repeated breeding. A neighbor spotted someone at the site earlier, putting several dogs into a trunk. If you know anything about this, call the Danville Humane Society.

Meantime, remember the pit bull puppy who had its ears cut off? She's almost three months old and will move in with her new family this weekend. Officials found her at an apartment in April.

They say she'll struggle with ear infections the rest of her life. But on the bright side, because of her age, she most likely won't be affected by what happened.
