Convicted Murderer Suspect in Shooting

He was convicted of murder more than 25 years ago. Now, police think Randall Lee Smith was involved in a shooting in Giles County. Tuesday night, Smith was taken to a Roanoke hospital after the truck he was driving overturned.
Turns out, that truck was wanted in connection with the shooting of two people in Giles County earlier in the evening. Smith was found guilty of murdering two hikers on the Appalachian Trial in 1981 and was released from prison in 1996. He's still in the hospital.
