University of Richmond police say they have the man that caused the campus to go on lockdown Tuesday. 19-year-old Seth Newman of Henrico County is charged with a felony count of concealing his identity and two misdemeanors.
The University of Richmond campus was on lockdown for four hours yesterday afternoon after witnesses say a gunman was in the university library. No shots were fired and no one was injured.
Chief Rodney Monroe/Richmond Police Dept. - "I think the coordination and cooperation, not just the law enforcement, but the community, as well as the media, prevented a tragic incident possible from occurring, as well as allowing us to apprehend and individual, who at this time we really don't know what his exact motives were."
Witnesses say Newman wore a fake beard and a jacket with the word "Sheriff" on the back.
