Danville emergency management officials say the Dan River could crest its banks before the end of the day. They expect it to happen within the next six hours. They warn business and home owners to remove personal property that's near the river.
Officials evacuated 12 people in homes close to the river on Water Street as a precaution this morning, then allowed them to return home a few hours later. We're told the water did cross Water Street this morning, then receded.
