Sweet Briar
(web) , VA - More than $1 million has been raised for historic preservation efforts at Sweet Briar College. Sweet Briar's board of directors recently announced that $1.6 million has been raised so far.
Vice president for development Heidi Hanson McCrory says the amount has exceeded expectations in a difficult economy.
The money will be used for several projects, including the 19th century president's residence, Sweet Briar House.
Sweet Briar's board established the Elisabeth Showalter Muhlenfeld Fund for Historic Preservation in honor of the college's president, who will retire in June.
