The Lynchburg Hillcats are the high Single-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. But the 'Cats weren't wearing their Hillcat jerseys Friday night. The Hillcats decked out in retro Mets uniforms, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the 1983 Lynchburg Mets, one of the best-ever minor league teams.
Lynchburg got its bats working early, scoring four in the second, adding two here in the fourth on RBI doubles by Greg Picart and Angel Gonzalez to run the 'Cats lead to 7-3. Michael Crotta pitched five innings for Lynchburg, allowing four hits and two earned runs.
Last night, the 'Cats couldn't hold the lead and lost by one. This time they win it, check out the collision at the plate, Eddie Prasch and Kinston's Alex Castillo. Indians got the out here. But the Hillcats get the win, 8-5 Lynchburg the final.
Salem lost on the road at Myrtle Beach 12-3, Pelicans broke it open early with eight runs in the second.
