Martin Ready to be Head Coach

If you missed our late news Tuesday night, we spoke with the new Appomattox County head football coach Ben Martin. Martin has coached the past four seasons as an assistant with Amherst County, he's also a former Altavista assistant.
He's getting to know his new players this week in weight room training. Martin takes over an 8-3 team that made the playoffs last year for the first time in eight years. The one-time Liberty Flames (web) lineman excited about his first head coaching job and the added responsibility that comes with it.
Ben Martin, Appomattox Co. Head Football Coach - "Assistants are the guys that are making suggestions. And now it's the head coach, as the head coach I'll be the one making the ultimate decision."
Dennis - "Do you feel like you're ready for this move?"
Ben Martin - "I do. I've always had that goal in my mind to be a head football coach and I'm really excited it's come along now."
