Legion Baseball Action

We begin with area American Legion baseball action Wednesday night at Forest Middle School, Big Island Post 217 taking on Lynchburg Post 16. Fourth inning action, Lynchburg's Mike Bergin steps on the bag for the force at second and fires to first for the double play, bang-bang play at first.
Trailing 6-4 in the fifth, back came Big Island. Mike Crowder sends a shot to left that goes all the way to the fence, the double scores two runs to knot the score at 6. Lynchburg, though, answered right back in the bottom of the fifth. Lucas Signer, who homered earlier in the game, drives a one-out double to right-center to get things started.
Next batter, Jon Dansby, rips one up the middle to plate Signer as Lynchburg regained the lead. Post 16 added two more in the frame, including Bergin's RBI single to right.
Lynchburg holds on as Big Island scored three in the ninth, Lynchburg 10, Big Island 9.
