The Hillcats' roster looked a lot different than before the All-Star break. Among the changes, catcher Steve Lerud promoted to Double-A, shortstop Brian Friday put on the disabled list and pitcher Kyle Pearson traded to the Tigers.
Winston-Salem in town for the first of three with the 'Cats. Lynchburg pitcher Michael Crotta gets out of the fourth with the strikeout, keeping the game tied at two. Bottom of the frame, still 2-all, not anymore. Outfielder Jamie Romak unloads his 12th homer of the season, that one's gone in a hurry to left, 3-2 Lynchburg.
Winston-Salem pitcher John Ely put on a fielding clinic in this game, check out this snag to get out of the fourth. And that was just the beginning, more defensive gems for the pitcher in the fifth. Lynchburg later wins on an Alex Presley two-out walk-off single in the 9th.
Hillcats 4, Warthogs 3.
Also in the Carolina League, Salem won on the road in Wilmington 6-3.
Appalachian League, Danville wins again, 4-3 at home tonight over Greeneville. Pulaski falls at Kingsport 8-3.
