The Hillcats know how to win three in a row. They've accomplished that a few times this season, but they have yet to win four. The Hillcats broke up Winston-Salem's no-hitter in the 5th and had runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out but Angel Gonzalez strikes out to end the threat.
In the 6th with Jake Cuffman on the mound, Cats down 1-zip, John Shelby singles to left with two on. One run scores easily but there's a play at the plate for the second run and Brandon Allen is safe. Winston-Salem now up 3-nothing.
Top 7, it's now 4-nothing. Adam Ricks creams this pitch to right. That's a double. They hold the runner at 3rd, but another run scores. It's 5-nothing. The Warthogs go on to win it 6-1. Rubber match Saturday night before the Cats head on the road to Wilmington.
Salem took on Wilmington. This one was in a rain delay for quite some time and just wrapped up. Wilmington gets the 8-3 win.
In the Appy League, the D-Braves continue to see themselves atop the East standings, but Danville pitching gave up 14 hits as the Braves fall 7-5 to Greenville. Same two teams go at it Saturday at 7:00.
