Hurt, VA - The Medical Examiner has ruled the shooting in Hurt Tuesday a murder-suicide. By all indications, when Norma Henley took out the trash at work, David Pippin was waiting.
The autopsy results reinforce what investigators believed- that Pippin shot and killed Henley, who was his ex-girlfriend, then killed himself.
It happened on Tuesday behind the G&S Market, between noon and 1:00 p.m. We don't know why he did it. We do know Pippin was recently released from prison. The owner of the G&S Market tells us Henley was a model employee- hardworking and honest.
Neighbors say Henley was the best kind of neighbor and will be missed terribly.
"I always remember her blowing the horn at me every morning, I get up and talk to her. She would wave at me. I go to the store where she worked there, still the same person, nothing changed ever. So I really don't know why the tragedy happened,” neighbor Walter Bland said.
