The rain continues to fall leaving plenty of standing water. Water levels continue to rise on the Dan River near South Boston Friday morning.
As of 9:00 a.m. Friday, the river was at 17.4 feet. It’s expected to reach 23 feet by Saturday afternoon. Flood stage for the Dan River is 19 feet. Some streets are still flooded, including the intersection of Seymour Drive and Railroad Avenue in South Boston.
Thursday’s heaviest storms hit in Pittsylvania County. At least three trees were uprooted and knocked onto roadways- one big one on Music Road in Gretna.
In other parts of the state, Wednesday night's rains were the real problem. At the Car Pool Bar and Grill in Herndon, too much rain too quickly made for a literal car pool. Six vehicles were flooded when a creek overflowed its banks.
A search and rescue team was even called in to make sure no one was inside the vehicles, which were almost completely submerged.
