Route 501 Re-opened After Tree Falls in Roadway

As of 2:15 p.m., Route 501 in Bedford County is still closed near Big Island after a tree fell across the roadway. The road is closed in both directions near Route 604. Traffic is being diverted onto Route 600 or Peters Creek Road.
The tree knocked down two power line poles around 12:30 p.m., leaving power is out in the Big Island area.
