Appomattox Co., VA - Parents in Appomattox County are upset they weren't able to give input on their superintendent's evaluation. The school board met in closed session on Monday afternoon to evaluate school superintendent Dr. Aldridge Boone.
For the first time ever, the board is receiving input from a select group parents, teachers and administrators. You'll remember Boone announced his resignation in May, with one year left on his contract.
Parents say this new evaluation is too critical of Boone. Several parents protested outside the county administration building, saying they want their opinions heard too.
Concerned Parent Susan Rhyner said, "We just don't appreciate it. He has done a great job as superintendent, and has done wonderful things for our school."
Appomattox County School Board Chairman Wes Williams said, "Our goal is just to do a better job or the job entrusted to us by the Code of Virginia."
Williams say the new evaluation will give them a better picture of Boone's performance. He says the final report will not be available to the public.
