Danville, VA - The baseball season is getting started up in Danville on Tuesday. The Danville Braves' first game is on the road, but the team is ready to win no matter where they are.
At practice Monday, they were playing hard, and that’s hopefully just an example of what’s to come this season.
Catcher Chris Anderson said, "We're just getting all our signs down getting all our plays down going over all the fundamentals and just getting ready for the upcoming season."
Tuesday's season opener is an away game against the Pulaski Mariners, who won their division last year.
General Manager, David Cross, said, "It's a pretty good rivalry for us, they usually field a pretty good team."
It's Tyler Stovall's first year in Danville and he has high hopes. The team has high hopes for him too, the Atlanta Braves drafted him in round two last year.
"I've been playing since I was 3 years old so it's definitely a life long dream that I get to come here and play for the Braves which was my favorite team growing up," Stovall said.
Besides winning, what players really want is to fill up these empty seats. "It's a lot easier to play when there's people in the stands they definitely they help us out there give us that extra adrenaline boost," Anderson said.
"Its an exciting day tomorrow and I'm gonna be excited to be part of it," Stovall said.
The Braves leave for Pulaski Tuesday morning. The first home game is one week from Monday against the King Sport Mets.
