Lynchburg, VA - Delegate Shannon Valentine has officially announced she'll be seeking re-election in the 23rd district. More than 200 supporters gathered at the democrat's Main Street headquarters in Lynchburg Saturday. The Lynchburg Professional Firefighter's Association threw their support behind the incumbent. They even brought out the bag pipes. After her announcement, volunteers hit the streets to campaign for Valentine. She says she remained quiet during the Republican primary, but now wants to kick her campaign into high gear.

 Del. Shannon Valentine - (D) 23rd District - "I felt like we just needed a line of demarcation. That I was going to officially announce, and to give everybody an opportunity to come join us."

Valentine's Republican challenger is Lynchburg City Council (web) man, Dr. Scott Garrett.
