The Hillcats had won seven of their last nine games heading into game two of a three-game home series against Salem. The Avalanche, trailing 3-2 in the fourth, take advantage of a Jared Hughes wild pitch here to score Jhon Florentino and tie the game at three.
Salem's Jordan Parraz had a huge night at the plate, going 4-for-5 plus drawing a couple of walks, reaching base six times. Tied at three in the fifth, Tim Torres sends a shot through Hughes' legs and the Avalanche grabbed a 4-3 lead. Salem later added two more in the seventh to make it 6-3.
Each time the Hillcats tried to start a rally, Avs catcher Koby Clemens snuffed it out, throwing out a host of runners trying to steal second. But the Cats later got three in the ninth to tie and a walk-off controversial homer in the 12th by Miles Durham to win it. Lynchburg rallies to beat Salem 7-6.
